RERF Leeds
The Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility in Leeds / UK is designed to remove recyclable waste from black bins and to recover energy from what is left over.
It will significant reduce the amount of waste that is send to landfill.
Poly-Ned made the 40 facade screens for the main building, which has a height of no less than 42 meters. These screens were carried out in 2 types of materials, namely, Ferrotex – a composite of PVC and metal wire – and a PVC-coated polyester fabric. The Locker Group in Warrington / UK contracted Poly-Ned and carried out the mounting. Poly-Ned advised on the selection of appropriate materials for the installation.
When thinking of a wall or roof, one easily thinks about hard materials such as brick, concrete, metal or plastic cladding, natural stone and glass. However, there is a lot more possible in this area. A new trend is to place a textile façade: a second skin or façade of high quality (plastic and metal) mesh fabric and mes hor cable fabric.
Roofs can also be made from such fabrics. An air cushion consists of a double layer of plastic or coated fabric. These are welded to each other so that an inflatable cushion is created. The air in the air cushion not only ensures good insulation, but the used sheet materials are often transparent or translucent so that a pleasant, bright interior climate is created.
The flexible materials Poly-Ned uses for facades, are also extremely suitable for façade renovation. Since a facade needs not be a load-bearing structure (other than its own weight and wind force), it is often easy to install. Because of the fact that the light weight materials can have a large surface area, a quick placement can be realized, which saves money.
